Refreshed for 2023 with a new look and new tech, the three-row Subaru Ascent SUV gives you all the space, capability, and comfort you need for everyday family hauling and once-in-a-lifetime adventures. The 2023 Ascent is available in six trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Onyx Edition Limited, and Touring.

Performance

Wherever you and your loved ones are headed, you can count on the 2023 Subaru Ascent to deliver confident, powerful performance. Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-MODE® with Hill Descent Control come standard on every model, giving you superior traction for bad weather or rough roads and trails. Under the hood, you’ll find a standard 2.4-liter SUBARU BOXER turbo engine and a Lineartronic® transmission with paddle shifters. With this setup, the Ascent can achieve up to 260 horsepower, 277 lb-ft of torque, and 5,000 pounds of towing capacity. And despite its large size, the Ascent also gets up to 26 mpg on the highway.[1]

Exterior styling

The Ascent showcases a fresh front-end look for 2023, highlighted by a redesigned front fascia, a larger grille, a new front bumper cover with aerodynamic ducts, and new LED headlights. The rear C-shaped taillights are new as well. The Ascent comes equipped with standard equipment like 18-inch silver-finished alloy wheels and raised roof rails. As you move up trim levels, you can upgrade with even more features, including LED fog lights, a windshield wiper de-icer, and a power tailgate. One of the Ascent’s sharpest new options is the Onyx Edition Limited trim, which shows off 20-inch black wheels and other dark-finished exterior elements.

Interior design and amenities

You’ll be greeted by comfort and versatility when you step inside the 2023 Subaru Ascent. Standard amenities for all models include tri-zone climate control, second-row and third-row USB charging ports, and 19 cup holders. Higher trims add many more features, including power front seats with heat and ventilation, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power moonroof. Keyless access with push-button start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and driver’s seat memory settings are options that add to your convenience behind the wheel. Meanwhile, you can purchase the Ascent as a seven-seater or an eight-seater model, and both options include flat-folding second and third rows that you can lower to gain 75.6 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. Depending on the trim level, your upholstery choices include stain-resistant cloth, water-repellent StarTex®, and Nappa leather.

Infotainment tech

The Ascent receives a suite of upgraded standard infotainment technology for 2023. The STARLINK Multimedia Plus system comes with an 11.6-inch center display, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, Bluetooth® hands-free texting and calling, and a free trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio and Travel Link® services. Higher trims add voice-activated navigation and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi® hotspot. Plus, the available 14-speaker Harman Kardon® premium sound system incorporates a new Cabin Connect feature so you or your front-seat passenger can speak clearly to riders in the third row.

Safety systems

All 2023 Ascent models come standard with the EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology package, which includes Pre-Collision Braking, Automatic Emergency Steering, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering. High Beam Assist and a Rear-Vision Camera with a washer also come standard. Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is included with Premium and above trims. You can also upgrade with features like Reverse Automatic Braking, the DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System, and a new 360-degree Surround View Monitor.
